Russellville Farms actually began many years ago under the name of Hollensworth Farm. We began showing Arabian horses in 1980 and we were continuously on the show circuit and began to notice a certain type of dog that was common at the shows, the “shorty jacks”, or “puddins”, or as we knew them then, just the Jack Russell Terrier. They seemed to be quite the show dog, always with their masters, always friendly, always extremely intelligent and inquisitive. We actually purchased our first two jack russells while we were are shows. Our first Jack Russell’s name was Terry Bradshaw, and a year later, added his mate, Jo-Jo Starbuck (of course) as our young four year old daughter’s first dog. Again we were extremely impressed with their intelligence, their stamina, their desire to constantly be with humans and their loyalty to their masters. Jo-Jo was constantly at our daughter’s side as her friend and companion.

In 2001, I began a new phase of my life as a single individual and decided that a name change was appropriate. Since many people came to my farm and saw all of the jacks that I had acquired, I just kind of fell into the name, “Russellville.” It became a nickname and finally became the new name for my farm. At the present, I have five breeding males and twelve breeding females. Most are smooth coats, but there is the occasional broken/rough coats within my lines. Many of my lines trace back to Short Stop Russells and the Elk Creek line which I highly respect for their conformation, their type, and their excellent temperaments. In 2003 I imported two new dogs to add to my breeding program from South Africa. They trace heavily back to Champion Australian lines, and have been an excellent addition to my breeding program. I enjoy breeding animals whether they are champion Arabian show horses, or the Jack Russell Terrier. I feel I have “an eye” for a good, sound, intelligent dog with an excellent temperament. I invite you to take a look at my dogs and my breeding program.

When our first litter of pups were born, we were ecstatic and immensely enjoyed raising the litter of pups. We continued showing types of coats such as the smooth, the rough, and the broken coats, as well as the different colors-the brown/whites, the tris, the red/whites, and the black/whites. We also began to develop a taste for the shorty jacks we preferred. We decided we preferred the more muscular type of body with the shorter legs, heavy bone, broad muzzles, the “wrinkled forehead”, and the heavy folded ears. Most important, we preferred a temperament that would be accepting of any person that came around us, whether they were children or adults.

On June 17, 2005, I once again entered a new phase of life. I married James Crawford, a very loving, very compassionate man that shares my love of my dogs and horses. He plays a very active role with me and my animals. I now reside in Plain Dealing, Louisiana plenty of room for these russells!
